Dohop’s new flight search engine finds more cheap flights
Posted by Frosti Sigurjonsson, CEO - 11/07/08 at 10:07:14 pm
As skyrocketing fuel prices drive airlines to raise prices, travelers need a powerful flight search engine to help them find as cheap flights as possible.
Packed with new features and more data on cheap flights than ever the latest release of Dohop.com makes it possible to search hundreds of airlines and travel sites for the best deals.
Every single page on Dohop.com has been redesigned to provide better readability and ease of use.
New! Airport selection map. Pick any airport on the planet in just two clicks: Click 1: Zooms in on any part of the world. Click 2: Selects the airport. The map also shows the location of airports selected by typing or from a dropdown list.
New! Self-connect and save.
On some routes self-connecting can mean great savings, sometimes up to hundreds of EUR and this is what most people use Dohop for. The new Dohop shows self-connecting options as separate tickets and provides advice on where and how to book them cheaply.
New! Avoid the hassle of self connecting. Booking a connected flight as a package with a single vendor is convenient and can in some cases be cheaper than if the same flights are booked separately. The new Dohop compares and displays both options clearly so travelers can compare.
New! Even more price information. Dohop’s new and powerful fare engine helps travelers to compare offers from more airlines and travel agents than any other flight search engine.
New! Cleaner look and clearer details. Clean and simple page layouts help users focus on the content and quickly find what they are looking for. Details are now displayed within search results rather than the user having to open a separate detail page to view details on offers and flight details.
New! Countless other improvements. Just to mention a couple of them; Filters can now be viewed in a single view, giving better overview of settings and better access to adjusting each filter. Sharing what you find on Dohop is also just one click away using the e-mail icon included in each result.
We hope you will go ahead and explore the new dohop.com and let us know what you think of it. Is there perhaps something you miss from the old version? Any particular feature you would like to see in upcoming releases?

Hi, the new interface looks sexy, but it doesn’t work at all here (Ubuntu 8.0.4, Firefox 3.0) … well the calendar works, but when I type the airports codes they are replaced by “From” and “To” again, and again, and again… may one use the old interface somehow?

Great, but can’t search. The “from:” and “to:” don’t work and I’ve tried both in Firefox and IE.

It doesn’t work. Please bring back the old search engine until the new pretty one is working properly!

It doesn’t work.
I have tried both Firefox 3.0 and Internet Explorer 7,0 and Opera 9,21.
When I type anything to “From” or “To” boxes, they are replaced to “From” & “To”.

Hi!
There was a bug in the new version that caused the above problems.
A fix has been made.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for reporting!

Cool initial interface, but the embed resize isn’t working and some options now opens popups.

First of all: I really love the dohop flight planner and using it since a long time. The AJAX-Interface is really outstanding and provides a very good user expirience.
The new design is quite clean and good looking. But there are some UI bugs and functional bugs, that makes using the interface more complicated than before:
1) selecting departure and arrival time: it is not obvious which of the sliders changes which time. please provide labels. I always have to think about it and try it out
2) the selection of the departure/arrival time does not always work properly. Before the relaunch I never discovered such problems. Perhaps the sliders work not properly.
3) the display of the pages of the search results does not show the real amount of search pages. Especially when filtering the results it is quite usefull to know how much search results are left. In the moment you can not see it in the page bar, you only can try it out. That is really bad.
best regards

Looks very cool and it is faster than any other flight searching site I know. One problem is that when you sort by price and not all prices have been retrieved yet, it doesn’t seem possible to get them in the right order when more prices are retrieved. Also do you have any plans for an iPhone specific version?? That would be great.

Also I would love to see the possibility to search for multidestination and openjaw tickets.

One more thing: I would love to see a much longer list of great value flights!

Hi Wouter,
When you click on the “Price” column heading all available price information should be included in the sort. For very big result sets the price sort can take a few seconds. (a progress indicator will be added soon).
Support for the iPhone’s safari browser is on our to-do list.
Multi-destination and open-jaw search is on the to-do list, can’t promise a date though.
A very long list of great value flights can be found on City pages in the travel guides. If you visit the Berlin page http://www.dohop.com/travel-guide/Berlin-Germany/
you will see a link “Cheap flights from Berlin” .
You can also find cheap flights between any pair of cities: For example the list for Berlin and London can be seen by typing this url: http://www.dohop.com/cheap-flights-from-berlin-to-london/

Thanks for your answers! One more thing that would be nice: selecting a country instead of a specific airport. You already offer some groups of airports in the same city or close together, but it would be nice if it would be possible to just select a country to fly to and get the cheapest/most optimal flights for that.

Sælir, mig langaði bara að láta ykkur vita að ég fæ alltaf sömu villuna þegar ég smelli á lessno hlekk úr leitarniðurstöðum, þ.e.a.s. þegar komið er á lessno síðuna þá birtist:
Ooops!
* The data for the current request expired. Please go back and start the request again.
Þessi tenging við lessno virðist sem sagt vera brotin, þetta gerist bæði í Firefox 2 í Linux og í Explorer 6 í Windows, þannig að þetta lítur ekki út fyrir að vera vafratengt í fljótu bragði.
Ég vissi ekki hvert ég ætti að senda þessa villutilkynningu þannig að ég ákvað bara að skella henni inn hér, þar sem þið virðist fylgjast ágætlega með þessu bloggi.
Og já, það væri náttúrulega frábært ef hægt væri að kippa þessu í liðinn fljótlega
.
Kveðja,
Björn Darri

Það væri mjög gott ef til væri “clear button”, t.d. þá leitaði ég að flugi milli Keflavíkur og Tokyo, klikkaði fyrst á Leifsstöð og svo flugstöð í Tokyo, lægsta tilboð var með millilendingu á Charles de Gaule flugvelli í París svo mig langaði til að skoða verð á flugi milli þess flugvallar og Tokyo eingöngu, ef vera skildi að lægra verð væri hægt að finna með Icelandexpress í stað Icelandair sem voru einu “carrier”arnir frá Íslandi sem komu í leitina.
…
Abbrigated english version:
It would be nice to have a clear button and be able to start search from afresh.

I was suggested by my friend to book air tickets from Beijing to Shanghai through http://www.bamboobookings.com. I found it very helpful, because the prices they offered are much lower than other websites.
