In case you haven’t yet booked your tickets, we would like to remind you that the World Snooker Championship will take place in Sheffield, England from 18 April – 4 May.

If snooker isn’t quite your thing, there is plenty else to do in Sheffield, the former steel capital of England (remember all those great scenes of the city in The Full Monty?).

Sheffield itself may not be a prime tourist destination, but the region of South Yorkshire boasts the Trans Pennine Trail, market towns like Penistone (in the heart of the Pennines, a beautiful spot for walking), the village of Cawthorne, botanical gardens in Sheffield itself, and countless stately homes, galleries, museums, and historical sites. Oh, and did I mention that the city has more trees per capita than any other city in Europe?

Visit this site for some pretty frank opinions on where to dine in Sheffield. For hotels, you know where to go!

Is there even more to Sheffield – add a comment here and let us know what snooker and non-snooker fans alike might enjoy in the city this spring.
